My path into spiritual direction was twofold. The first was through pilgrimages in the Biblical Lands and along the Caminos de Santiago. The second was through the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius in daily life. This led me to enrol in a Graduate Diploma of Spiritual Direction and fostered a growing sense of my vocation as someone who accompanies others. Looking back, I see this calling emerging through my work, leading pilgrimages in Israel and Palestine. It has also deepened as I have walked more pilgrimages and realised the importance of the inner journey that a pilgrim makes through the outer world. Currently, my accompaniment work focuses on pilgrimage, walking alongside people as they prepare for, undertake, and return from the Camino. I also use my skills as a volunteer with Camino Companions, an FCJ ministry that offers a reflective space and listening ear for pilgrims in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

Favourite Scripture:           Genesis 12:1-3 (The call of Abraham)

Favourite Book:                  Redemption Road by Brendan McManus SJ

Favourite Movie:                 Seven Ways to Santiago

Memorable Moment:            One moment that stands out for me was on the final day of my first Camino in 2016. I had walked beside many pilgrims during this pilgrimage, listening to their stories. As we approached Santiago de Compostela, we slowed down and savoured the moments. We were in no hurry to reach the Cathedral because we knew how special this time of walking together was. This picture was taken at Monte de Gozo, about 5 km outside of Santiago.
